Adapting the coursebook 9
Module 4 > Unit 3 > Lesson 2: Adapting the coursebook > Activity 9
So far, we’ve talked about how to go away from the coursebook and add ideas of your own with the book closed. But of course you can also adapt an exercise in the coursebook so that it suits your own class better.
Here is an example. Imagine a teacher in Thailand was teaching the present perfect to a class of university students. The coursebook had this exercise:
Ask and answer the questions.
Have you ever…
- …been to Sweden?
- …seen a polar bear?
- …seen the Eiffel Tower?
- …eaten sushi?
- …ridden a motorbike?
- …flown in a helicopter?
- …worked in a café?
He wanted all the questions to have possible Yes or No answers, so he changed four of the questions to make them more suitable. Which questions do you think he changed? Choose four.
Select the questions the teacher could change.
