Drama activities can SPICE up your ELT Classroom to engage and include all students in a joyful action packed experience where you can achieve more effective outcomes especially in the Speaking Skills. The basic theory behind Drama in Education will be covered briefly but learning the HOW of putting Drama into practice will take priority. You will experience activities to improve confidence, communication skills, body language, voice production and fluency. Activities include breathing, body and voice exercises borrowed from stagecraft, language games, improvisations and role play. By the end of the course you will be able to take both yourselves and your students from wailing “I can’t….” to shouting “I CAN!”

Do you have some challenging students in some of your English language classes?
Do you get frustrated with current methodology?
Do you want to reach these students and engage them?
    Do you support inclusion?
Do you want to change the refrain from “I can’t” to “I can”

If you answered yes to some of these questions this course is for you! You do not need to have any acting skills in order to benefit from this course.

In this course you will learn how to distinguish between doing Drama and doing Theatre with your students so that Drama is considered an essential element for all in the regular English language classrooms. You will learn how to keep the text but change the task so that learning English becomes much more effective and fun for your students. You will find that through doing Drama your “discipline” problems will dissipate and you will be able to motivate your students to want to learn and use the language, especially to communicate with confidence. You will find out how to train your students to use body language and to control their voices to express themselves more fluently and comfortably. Students’ well being is an integral component in Drama work and leads to better relationships for all in a safe environment where respect for effort and participation is top priority.
