Hi Shelly! First of all, let me thank you for ALL YOUR HELP, your support and your inspiration. This course is wonderful and l'm learning TONS about the zillions of resources out there that we can use. I'm also a teacher at an official language school, like many other colleagues that have posted their opinions here. I don't like overloading my students either, but I have found that they LOVE doing these sort of things… The trick is combining it with activities that help them in their learning process. Why? Because... "Everyday, around the world, people use their mobile devices to share the narratives of their lives through written words, images, music, audio, and video. We should be integrating these rituals to provide our students with meaningful language practice beyond our classrooms."

Mobile learning has transformed the way we learn and we have the opportunity to provide our students with powerful language learning experiences using their mobile devices. With most basic cellphones, students can record audio, take pictures, write notes, and capture video without an Internet connection. They can use these features to create stories, podcasts, movies, commercials, and other projects in English. Additionally, they can share their English creations with friends and family members. These English creations can remain on their devices for them to access at anytime.

As a community of language teachers from around the world, we will collaborate in designing mobile tasks that get learners experimenting and applying language in various contexts. Collectively, we will develop a mobile learning lesson database and a plethora of support materials and free resources. All participants will also receive a free signed copy of Shelly's new ebook, Learning to Go! Lesson Plans and Tips for Teachers Teaching with Mobile Devices, Cell Phones, and BYOT.
